How exciting is it that my first post on the blog is from my favorite kids\’ ministry conference of all time? Yesterday was a whirlwind. I loaded up my wife and three little boys in our van for our trip down to Birmingham to attend Kids Ministry Conference 2010 and experience a "Brand New Day"!
We arrived and checked into our hotel room. Almost immediately, I went to my conference room to prepare to teach my conference on effectively ministering to today’s preteens. I was a little nervous because I hadn\’t taught this conference before and it was a little "heavier" than I normally go with conferences. The conference went great. Supper was provided for all of the faculty and event staff, so we dined on salad, fried chicken, catfish, veggies, and delicious apple cobbler.
I must confess that I was not quite prepared for the wonderful time of worship that we had led by Anthony Evans who truly amazed me and helped prepare my heart. We were then completely amazed with the talents of Yancy who has been leading children in worship for several years, as well as, authoring many songs you\’ve probably heard on the radio. Finally, we laughed and cried as we listened to Rick Burgess encourage us.
After the worship time, I had an opportunity to catch up with Yancy (not Nancy) and talk with her about her heart for ministry, as well as, asking her a few burning questions about her last name and fashion style!
