As I’ve been working on EXTRA! for Bible Teaching for Kids resources and planning to teach my group of kindergartners, I was looking at resources available that relate to Easter and teaching kids about Jesus. Here are some of my favorites for both preschoolers and children. You could use these items during Sunday School or other teaching times this Easter season.
Wooden Puzzle: Bible Times Food (younger preschoolers through 3s) – use this puzzle as you talk about Jesus\’ special supper with His helpers
Wooden Puzzle: Jesus, a Special Friend (older preschoolers and kindergartners) – use this puzzle as you talk about Jesus and His love during Easter
Floor Puzzle: Holy Land Map (pre-kindergartners, kindergartners, younger children) – put together the puzzle and find Jerusalem and other places mentioned in Bible stories
Quick Scene Easter Bulletin Board Set (kindergartners, grades 1-6) – create a focus on Easter in the classroom or hallway with this set
Stickers: Jesus (all ages) – add these stickers of Jesus\’ name to arts and crafts activities
Postcard: Jesus Is Alive – mail these postcards to families reinforcing the message of Easter
Craft Pack: Wooden Cross Magnet (grades 1-6) – talk about the ABCs of Becoming a Christian and create a reminder with these cross magnets
Video Download: Can Do Cameron-Salvation (grades 1-6) – use this life application video to support the Easter session and talk about Jesus as Savior

This is a great list! Many children will listen better when their hands are active, especially kids with differences such as ADHD and autism spectrum disorder. Allowing a child to actually do one of these puzzles or prepare the Wooden Cross Magnet craft WHILE the story is being told 1) helps to keep kids constructively engaged and 2) reinforces the Bible teaching.
I’m going to order the Holy Land Floor Puzzle for my 6 year old son (and I’ll use it again when I teach kindergarten VBS).
