I’ve enjoyed reading ideas posted by Todd… and I’ve enjoyed posting some ideas that I use in my 4th grade Sunday School class. Here’s a few more:
Ping-Pong Blow Golf: Gather 10 white and 10 orange ping-pong balls. Write a book from each division on each set. Cut 5 large plastic cups in half and print one of the division names on each 1/2 cup. Tape the cups to the playing surface. Divide the group into two teams and play. On “go” the first player of each team will choose a Bible book ping-pong, place it on the floor and blow the ball into the correct division cup. When the book is in the correct division, run back to the team to tag player two for play. The first team to get all their teams books housed in the correct division cups, wins!
Minor Prophet Muffin Mix: This game helps children learn the Old Testament Minor Prophet in order. You will need at 24 count mini muffin tin and 24 ping pong balls, 2 sets of 12 (2 different colors helps). Write a minor prophet book title on different ping pong balls. Place the minor prophet “muffins” randomly in the tin. Two players will face each other with the tin on their knees between them. On “go” players will race to put the minor prophets in order. The first player to complete the “mix” correctly. wins.
Grab a Book Relay: Gather 20 small plastic balls and print on each ball one book from each of the 10 divisions of the Bible. Make two sets. Gather 2, 12 count cupcake tins. Print in each tin one of the 10 divisions of the Bible (1 tin can read Old Testament and another New Testament). Divide into two teams. On “go” the first team member will use the “grabber” to grab a book of the Bible, run to the prepared tins and place the book in the correct division. Player one will then run back to the team and hand off the “grabber” to team member two who repeats the relay. The first team to get all the 10 books in the correct divisions wins!
Old Testament Tower: This game uses an old “Jenga®” game. Take the time to carefully write the books of the Old Testament on all sides of the “Jenga®” block. Carefully stack the Old Testament blocks randomly, three to a layer in alternating direction. Player one will remove the block of his choice and place it in the appropriate division bag. Player two continues the same. The game continues until the tower falls. Reset the tower and play again.
