My Impression of CentriKid Camps

October 7, 2011 | nballard

I had the opportunity to go to CentriKid in June—only two weeks into my new Lifeway role as a Kids Marketing Strategist. CentriKid is our camp for 3rd–6th graders to experience the time of their lives and learn more about the message of Jesus Christ. I was immediately impacted by the uniqueness of CentriKid! So what aspects of camp made such a positive impression on me?

·         Rec Time made me want to be a kid again. I had a great childhood, but I really don’t have many moments now where I want to literally be a kid again. As I joined the RipTides during rec time, I had so much fun with them that I wished I could go back in time. CentriKid is a camp where kids will have a blast!

·         Staffers have a heart for Christ and making Him known. I noticed that all throughout the day, from devotional time, to rec time, to Bible study time, even at parties—staffers are sharing truths about Christ and the Christian life with kids. They are intentional all throughout the day in talking about Christ in practical ways that kids understand.

·         Relationships are built. I was blown away by how many kids were calling me by name by the end of the week. CentriKid provides kids with a comfortable, safe environment where they build relationships with one another and with staff. Staffers deliberately foster this environment, which allows kids to open up and feel comfortable talking about their faith and simply being themselves.

·         Lives are changed. So many stories have been shared with us on how kids’ lives have been changed at CentriKid. I witnessed it for myself! On the last night of Bible teaching and worship time, several kids made decisions for Christ. My heart was full as I witnessed these kids praying with their leaders and camp staff. CentriKid is a camp where lives are changed…forever!

For these reasons and so many more, I departed camp very proud to know that a huge part of my new role at Lifeway is to communicate about CentriKid—a camp that I truly believe in. It’s not too late to register for camp in 2012. Next summer, we will catch the Olympic spirit with, "Game On… Living a Transformed Life!" We will study God’s work in the life of the Old Testament hero, Daniel, and learn what it means to live out our faith as God works through us.

We have more than 20 camp locations across the country. Be sure to check us out, view a video, and join us for an impactful experience that you and your kids will never forget!
