Be As Loyal As Possible!
We’re almost through this Monday morning series. I hope you’ve enjoyed my thoughts on several things I learned the hard way. The truth is I probably wouldn’t have heard even if someone would have told me… but I hope some of you can learn from my mistakes.
Be loyal! Be loyal to you church, your pastor, your staff, your leadership team… be loyal! Two things come to mind…
#1: DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOU! If you want your staff to have your back, then you need to have theirs. It’s easy to get caught up in the “things of the tongue” but I recommend you not be that person. If someone wants to talk about someone, step away from the conversation. If someone wants to tattle or gossip… don’t do it. Be loyal. Remember these words, “If they’ll talk about them to you, they’ll talk about you with them!”
#2: THE PASTOR IS YOUR PASTOR! And… with that comes some biblical principles that place him in a God ordained place of authority over your church and you! Be very careful to not cross that bridge. Be loyal! The pastor is YOUR pastor and you should respect him as such.
You might notice that I didn’t say BE LOYAL but I said BE AS LOYAL AS POSSIBLE. Unfortunately, there are some situations that go beyond your ability to maintain loyalty. If for you find yourself there, seek wise council, share carefully with someone you can trust, and be sure to approach the issue with love and grace AND refer to #1 above!
We’ll finish up next week with #10… don’t miss it!
