Winter is coming (literally) but summer is coming sooner than you think. While the weather outside is getting cooler, you can plan to be cool this summer by having your plan for kid’s ministry in place. Pick from these options (or all three) — whatever best fits the needs for your church — to get ready for summer 2014.
1. Plan for VBS now.
By starting to plan now, you\’ll be well on your way to recruiting helpers and casting vision for the most evangelistic Kids Ministry tool in history. To get a jump on preparation, consider ordering a Jump Start kit today. Another idea is for your VBS team to attend a VBS Preview event in January and February where you can meet the VBS team, pick their brains, and get up-close with all the gadgets for Agency D3.
2. Help your church reach people in your zip code.
The newest summer resource from Lifeway Kids is ZIP for Kids. Everything about ZIP is designed to help your church reach your zip code — those who live in your community. Take advantage of the skills and gifts of those in your church to reach kids in your area using ten lessons, media, and plans for large group, small group, and more. Everything in ZIP for Kids is customizable with track plans for Create It, Play It, Perform It, and Live It. There’s even help if you want to create your own. It has a kids program to help you do everything, even that under-water-basket-weaving track you\’ve been wanting to do. Seriously though, Zip for Kids gives you total flexibility for making an impact this summer in your community.
3. Get your group signed up for summer camp.
For most churches, summer is not complete without camp. Think about going to CentriKid Camps during the summer of 2014. It’s a perfect time for making memories with kids from your group. At camp, your kids will experience high-energy worship, small group bible studies, and awesome recreation games. CentriKid Camp staff take care of all the details so you can spend your time investing in relationships with your kids. Spots are still available at camp, but they are filling up quickly. Go online to register or call to chat with someone about bringing your group to CentriKid.
Tips to Remember as You Prepare
-
Pray expectantly for God to work in the hearts of kids & families that you shepherd.
-
Get your event dates on the calendar for VBS, camp, and so on.
-
Ask your pastor to join you in casting vision for kids ministry — You are going to need a lot of help from him and from the workers in your ministry to reach kids in your community for Christ.
-
Inform parents to mark their calendars and get ready for an awesome summer.
Everyone around you may be wearing fall or winter jackets, but you can wear shades if you plan ahead now for summer 2014.
