The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering is a special offering collected by the International Mission Board for the sole purpose of supporting international missions.
Each year since I was a little boy, my family has collected coins in a certain plastic piggy bank. We collected coins all year and at Christmas time we rolled the coins and make that part of our offering to the Lottie Moon Christmas offering. My dad and I would race to count and roll our coins the fastest!
Every penny goes to international missions, so that’s why we count them all!
This tradition means a lot to me and is one that I’m doing with my family too. My wife and I sorted the coins with our 2-year-old this year, so we wanted to share a fun family moment, as well as an idea for a cool tradition. (Please, continue reading below the video.)

Not shown in the video are the things that happened after Madison’s attention span wore out from counting, rolling, and depositing at the bank. I’m really excited to be able to share each of these steps in the process with her and also be able to teach her about the importance of supporting missions.
Next year maybe Madison will be a little more accurate with sorting coins, so stay tuned and we’ll share again!
