There are days we question what we do. Exhaustion starts setting in, parents and kids seem unappreciative, co-workers disagree with our methods…the list goes on. Ministry is difficult sometimes. We know, however, that our efforts are not in vain. If pouring out our energy and love is going to bring kids closer to a relationship with Christ, we will fight through the difficult times day after day. This is exactly what the workers of Big Oak Ranch do.
John Croyle, author of The Two-Minute Drill to Manhood, along with his wife, Tee, started the ranch in 1974. As they put it, Big Oak Ranch is a Christian home for children needing a chance. Our Lifeway family recently partnered with this children’s home. We had to join their mission. We know that like kids ministers, John and his staff probably have days they serve with a little less excitement and a little more discouragement. We hope that our support will not only help the kids, but will also give the loving employees an extra punch of adrenaline.
I could try to tell you how powerful of a ministry Big Oak Ranch has shown itself to be, but I\’d much rather you see the boys and girls for yourself. Here’s a video of a trip to the ranch last fall. As you watch, I dare you not to cry.
