5 Steps to Be on Mission During Spring Break

February 18, 2014 | Kids Ministry

Feb-18Jana_newGot plans this Spring Break? How about the kids in your home or in your church — do they have plans? Don’t let them waste their Spring Breaks! Invite them to come alongside you in ministry right in their own neighborhoods. We need to model living on mission for the kids in our lives to see and experience. I can think of no better way than to let them reach out to their own neighbors, friends, and schoolmates by hosting a backyard Bible club experience.

Use these 5 easy steps to help kids create their own Spring Break Bible Club:

1. Choose a location that can accommodate the number of kids you expect to attend. It doesn’t have to be just one backyard — it could be several if neighbors choose to participate. It could also be a neighbor church, school, or community center.

2. Select content that will share the gospel and bring the fun! Check out our Backyard Kids Club and brand new this year, Zip for Kids.

3. Ask kids to create special invitations to distribute to neighborhood homes (with adult supervision).

4. Involve kids in the preparation of the environments and give them a part to play in the event. This could be decorating, performing a skit, or giving their testimony.

5. Follow-up with kids who attend the event. Continue to ask them into your home, invite their families to church, give them a ride to church events, or host a monthly Bible club that will continue discipleship.

So, don’t waste your Spring Break — and don’t let the kids in your lives waste their break on devices and television. Be intentional and model missional living. Your kids are watching!
