I have learned so much from my Grandma. I had the amazing blessing of growing up in the same town as my grandparents. There was even a season when my Grandparents lived right next door!
My Grandma is now 97 years old. One thing I love about her is her drive and determination…To keep dreaming, to keep living, and to enjoy the ride along the way. After my grandparents retired, they had 14 exchange students live with them from many different countries over a few years. In a season of life where they could have sat back and relaxed, they kept living out their purpose by investing in others!
Before last week, my Grandma had visited all 50 states besides North Dakota. My uncle and mom helped her cross all 50 states off of her bucket list at age 97. They took her on an adventure trip to North Dakota on what would have been my Grandpa’s 100th birthday. My Grandparents loved to travel so I know he would have been tickled to see how they chose to celebrate his life by accomplishing a dream my Grandma had.
I have learned a lot from my Grandma, and one of those lessons, as my uncle says so well, is to “Live all your life!” What a great reminder to keep living and not allow obstacles to stop you from living your God-given purpose. I know this has been a difficult season of ministry for all of us. Our world is full of so many unknowns and so many fears. I want to encourage you to cling to God’s Word when you are ready to quit. There are so many verses to encourage us during this season, but I have listed a few verses to get you started. Grab your Bible and allow God to speak to you through His Word!
- Galatians 6:9, “Let us not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don’t give up.”
- 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
- 1 Corinthians 9:24, “Don’t you know that the runners in a stadium all race, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way to win the prize.”
- Matthew 11:28, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
- Psalm 37:24, “Though he falls, he will not be overwhelmed, because the Lord supports him with his hand.”
What is the passion and dream that God has put in your heart that you keep putting off or ignoring? What do you feel like God is calling you to do, but you feel stuck? What obstacles are you afraid of that limit you? I know there have been times in my life when I have let fear stop me from living what God was calling me to do. As believers, the world needs our heart and passion for Jesus and our love for kids. It is so exciting to be a part of what God is doing! Keep dreaming! Keep living! Keep following Jesus each step! Are you ready for the ride that God has in store for you? Let’s keep on keeping on, together!
