This engaging craft is a perfect addition to Magnified! VBS, or just for some springtime fun! You can use this activity prior to VBS to get kids excited about what is to come! Even better, they can give the craft to a friend once completed and invite them to join the fun at VBS.
Supplies Needed:
- Coffee filters
- Washable markers
- Spray bottles filled with water
- Clothespins
- Pipe cleaners
Instructions:
- Color the Coffee Filters – Have children use washable markers to decorate their coffee filters with bright, vibrant colors. Encourage them to cover as much space as possible for the best effect.
- Spray with Water – Using a spray bottle, lightly mist the coffee filter until the colors begin to blend.
- Let It Dry – Set the filters aside on a protected surface to dry completely.
- Form the Butterfly – Once dry, pinch the center of the filter and clip it with a clothespin to form butterfly wings.
- Add the Antennae – Twist a small piece of pipe cleaner around the top of the clothespin to create antennae.
