The countdown to Vacation Bible School is almost over! After months of planning, recruiting volunteers, and prepping materials, it’s time to make sure all the final details are in place. Whether you’re a seasoned VBS leader or tackling it for the first time, a last-minute checklist can help ensure nothing gets overlooked. From confirming supplies to encouraging your team, here’s a quick list to help you feel confident and ready for an incredible week of VBS!
2-3 MONTHS BEFORE VBS
- Order and distribute VBS curriculum.
- Finalize the VBS daily schedule.
- Schedule a Planning Day to give volunteers a time to meet and collaborate on their VBS lessons, schedules, and so forth.
- Plan VBS Celebration activities.
1-2 MONTHS BEFORE VBS
- Begin promotion efforts to the community.
- Plan to participate in the National Day of Prayer for Vacation Bible School (May 18, 2025).
2-4 WEEKS BEFORE VBS
- Schedule a Planning Day to give volunteers a time to meet and collaborate on their VBS sessions, schedules, and so forth.
- Collect the “Supply List” forms and gather supplies.
- Use Lifeway’s® KidEvent Pro® to begin early registration online.
1-2 WEEKS BEFORE VBS
- Assign pre-enrolled participants to a Bible study room and other age-group departments.
- Distribute supplies.
- Finalize room assignments.
- Continue to pray over the event!
THE DAY BEFORE VBS
- Conduct the VBS Preparation Day.
- Conduct a VBS Kickoff Event.
- Decorate and set up all rooms.
