In today’s fast-paced world, children are constantly bombarded with messages that may not align with biblical principles. It is crucial to instill a strong biblical worldview that helps kids navigate life through the lens of Scripture. We want children to understand that God’s truth applies to every aspect of life. This biblical worldview guides how children see God, themselves, and the world around them. A strong foundation in God’s truth helps them discern right from wrong and stand firm in their faith even with the culture’s shifting values.
A biblical worldview begins with the understanding that God is the Creator and in control of all things. In a world where identity is often based on feelings or social trends, kids need to know they are fearfully and wonderfully made by their Creator, and He has a plan and purpose for their lives.
A biblical worldview teaches kids to know the Bible is God’s Word and His Word is true. Consistent Bible reading and discussion help children see that God’s Word is relevant in their lives. Parents and caregivers can help kids view the world around them through a biblical lens by asking children, “What does the Bible say about this?” We can teach children to defend their faith by having open discussions about situations they will face which in turn builds confidence in their beliefs.
Children learn by example, so it is important to surround them with godly influences. Church involvement and Christian mentors help children see faith lived out beyond the home. These relationships can help strengthen their faith and equip them to stand firm in their beliefs.
Lifeway provides a great discipleship plan called Ages and Stages: Levels of Biblical Learning. As kids grow, their understanding of foundational truths grows with them. Levels of Biblical Learning covers 10 biblical concept areas— God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, Bible, Salvation, Creation, Church, People, Family, Community & World—that children and students can learn as they study God’s Word. The concept areas are presented through eight different age ranges, from infancy through high school, and reflect levels of understanding that follow how God designed children to learn. This great resource can be found at lifeway.com/agesandstages.
Raising children with a biblical worldview is an ongoing process that requires an intentional partnership between the church and home. It is about grounding them in Scripture and living out God’s truth as we help shape the next generation together!
