Pastor Appreciation Month is an annual observance, celebrated every October, that encourages congregations and communities to show gratitude for the hard work and dedicated service of pastors and other clergy members.
This year, bring the kids in your ministry in on the action!
- Draw a Picture – Take part of your kids ministry time to have each child draw a picture of something they love about church. They may not know your head pastor incredibly well, but they will appreciate seeing how the church fosters excitement and joy in the children in the congregation.
- Scripture Encouragement Booklet – Have kids pick their favorite Bible verses, write them out, and compile them into a little handmade booklet for the pastor. Name it something sweet like, “Little Hearts, Big Truths” or “God’s Word Through Kids’ Eyes.”
- Kids Say Thanks Video – Record kids saying one sentence each about why they love their pastor and their church. Compile it into a short appreciation video.
- Gift Basket with a Theme – Tailor it to your pastor’s interests (coffee basket, favorite snacks, sports team basket, or even a “sermon prep survival kit” with pens, sticky notes, tea/coffee, and treats). Feel free to include the scripture encouragement book or pictures from the kids in the basket!
