Back-to-School Backpack Prayer Tag

Back-to-school season can stir up big feelings for kids—new classrooms, new teachers, new friends. This free printable prayer tag is a small reminder of a big truth: God goes with them everywhere, even to school. Printing & Assembly Instructions

• Each tag is roughly 3.5″ x 4.25″ — close to a standard index card or luggage-tag size.
• Print at 100% scale / “Actual Size” — not “Fit to page” or “Shrink to fit,” which can shrink the tags slightly and throw off alignment between front and back.
• Print double-sided.

Laminate them yourself!

1. Cut apart the fronts and backs first, leaving them as separate single-sided pieces (or back-to-back if you’ve printed double-sided and trimmed to one card).
2. Use self-sealing laminating pouches like these — no laminator needed, since they seal on their own with pressure (a hard roller or even the edge of a credit card works to smooth out air bubbles).
3. Center the tag inside the pouch so there’s an even border of laminate on all sides — aim for at least 1/8″–1/4″ of clear seal margin around the tag so it’s fully protected.
4. Press firmly from the center outward to push out air bubbles before the pouch fully seals, working toward the edges.
5. Trim close to the edge of the tag once sealed, leaving a small (about 1/8″) laminate border — don’t cut flush to the printed edge, or you risk cutting into the seal itself.
6. Round the corners with a corner-rounder punch if you have one — this isn’t required, but it stops the laminate corners from peeling or poking, and gives it that finished look.
7. Punch a hole in one corner for the grommet or loop, about 1/4″–3/8″ in from both edges (not too close to the corner point, or it can tear out). A standard 1/4″ hole punch works well.
8. Add a grommet (optional, for durability):
   • Grommet kits typically include a metal eyelet (two pieces — front and back) and a small setting tool.
   • Slide the front piece of the grommet through the punched hole from the front side.
   • Place the back washer piece over the exposed post from behind.
   • Use the setting tool (often just a hammer and anvil, or a hand press) to flatten and lock the two grommet pieces together, securing the laminate in place.
   • If you’d rather skip grommets, a simple hole punch plus a plastic loop or split ring through the hole works just as well and is faster for a big batch.
9. Attach a loop or strap — thread a 6″ plastic worm loop, key ring, or zip tie through the grommet/hole to clip the tag onto a backpack zipper or handle.
