If I referenced Bob the Tomato or Larry the Cucumber, the vast majority of you would immediately know who I was talking about. VeggieTales has touched many lives, and we were so privileged to have one of its creators (Phil Vischer) open up our general session on Wednesday evening.
Besides speaking as Bob the Tomato, Phil mentioned the importance of teaching kids more than moral character. Introducing kids to kindness is not the same as introducing kids to Jesus. Lasting has been our theme all week, and we love focusing on being used to change hearts, not behaviors. Thank you, Phil, for emphasizing this for us!
Jennie Allen, speaker and author, followed up worship and Phil. She encouraged the room, telling us that we are warriors. You, kids ministers, have a noble and brave fight. You don\’t have to wonder if what you are doing is important. She encouraged us to live in urgency, to fight for each of the little souls that skip through the hallways at our churches. Jennie reminded us that these minds will never be as moldable as when they are in front of us. Go fight for them. Get messy with them. Be brave for them. And be sure you give them Jesus.
Anthony Evans wrapped up the night for us with a few worship songs, and we left feeling even more encouraged than the night before. God so brilliantly encourages us! Isn\’t it great to serve the Creator and Sustainer of hope?!
