In honor of this day, I found the most random chocolate covered recipe that I could find (other than insects – i’m totally not going there), so let me share my experience of making Chocolate Covered Bacon!!
I borrowed a recipe from the Taste of Home website:
I started by skewering the bacon, which I probably wouldn’t do if for some odd reason I ever make chocolate covered bacon again, but my cat Dixie really enjoyed watching. |

I baked the bacon in the oven for 25 minutes, but it still wasn’t crispy enough so i ended up microwaving it as well. If I make it again, I’ll just use the microwave to cook the bacon. |

Then I melted my chocolate. I used almond bark and semi-sweet chocolate chips. I used a spoon to spoon the chocolate over the bacon and held the bacon over the bowl for a few seconds for the extra chocolate to drip off. |

Lastly, I decorated the bacon and put it in the fridge to set. |

I haven’t tried a piece yet. I kinda feel like someone needs to be there to witness the eating of the chocolate covered bacon for it to count. I’m planning on having a taste test tomorrow at work. I’ll let you know how it goes! So, what do you guys think? You gonna make a batch of chocolate covered bacon for Christmas? What’s the most random thing you have ever eaten covered in chocolate?? What’s your favorite thing you have ever eaten covered in chocolate? |
