As Children’s Ministers, and people in general, words are important. We want to use them effectively to help kids know Jesus. We use them to love, correct, encourage, and discipline. Words can be written or spoken, and sometimes just felt. We have the ability to write or speak something that will either enrich someone’s life or tear them down. Words are so important, yet sometimes so flippantly used.
Take the time to make sure the words you use are full of grace. Right now, we live in a fallen world that is often filled with cynics rather than encouragers. There will always be enough cynical people in the world and there will never be enough encouragers. Be the person that can always be counted on for encouragement. Be the type of person who is not too busy to think about how your friends, fellow church members, and coworkers are feeling and what you can do to bring happiness into their lives. With the children in your ministry, your spouse, your friends, or your family…let’s be encouragers!
“There is one who speaks rashly, like a piercing sword; but the tongue of the wise brings healing.”- Proverbs 12:18 (HCSB)
